25 years ago tonight an event billed as Wrestling Hulkamania took place at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. The show drew a crowd of 61,470, an outdoor attendance record at the time.The event was later released on VHS as The Big Event.

20 years ago tonight was the 4th SummerSlam from Madison Square Garden in New York City, billed as a Match Made in Heaven and a Match Made in Hell Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior team up to face Sgt. Slaughter, Col. Mustafa (Iron Sheik) & Gen. Adnan and wedding of Randy Savage & Elizabeth.
Also Bret Hart wins his first I-C Title by defeating Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, Legion of Doom defeat the Nasty Boys and become the first tag team to win the AWA, NWA, & WWF tag titles.

Paul Orndorff turns on Hulk Hogan

On June 24th 1986 in Poughkeepsie, NY WWF Champion Hulk Hogan & Paul Orndorff faced the team of  Big John Studd & King Kong Bundy (w/ Bobby Heenan) the match ended when Studd & Bundy double-teaming Hogan and knocked the referee to the floor. After the match Orndorff raised Hogan's hand in victory but would then clothesline and piledriver him in the ring. Orndorff, Bundy, Heenan, and Studd left the ring together.

The match aired 25 years today on WWF Championship Wrestling.

The nWo is Born

15 years ago tonight Hulk Hogan joins Kevin Nash & Scott Hall to form the New World Order at WCW Bash at the Beach PPV, afterwords Hogan delivered in my opiniion one of the greatest promos ever.
The nWo storyline was one of the most successful angles in the history of Pro Wrestling catapulting WCW to ratings domination on Monday Nights. It should be noted that on the last Monday Nitro prior to the PPV commenator and former wrestler Larry Zbyszko said "There will be a New World Order this Sunday"

In Your House: Canadian Stampede

On this date in 1997 the WWF presented In Your House: Canadian Stampede from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in the main event The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Davy Boy Smith, Jim Neidhart, & Brian Pillman) defeated the team of Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, Goldust & LOD (Hawk & Animal).

This show was awarded Best Major Show for 1997 by the readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and it was the last time the company would present a 2 hour PPV event.

Six years ago tonight on a 4th of July edition of Monday Night Raw Hulk Hogan & Shawn Michaels teamed up to defeat the team of Kurt Angle & I-C Champion Carlito when Hogan pinned Carlito with the legdrop. After the match Michaels hit the superkick on Hogan, this would lead to their one on one match at SummerSlam.

The big news for Hockey fans here in Canada was the announcement on Tuesday that the NHL is returning to Winnipeg after Fifteen years, a group called True North Sports and Entertainment purchased the Atlanta Thrashers and will move the team to Winnipeg (pending NHL Board of Governors approval).

Former multi-time WWE Champion & Winnipeg native Chris Jericho tweeted this on Tuesday.
"THE JETS ARE BACK BABY!!!!! "I'm from Winnipeg, you idiots!"

Owen Hart

12 years ago tonight Owen Hart died tragicly in the ring after falling from the ceiling in Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri during the WWF Over The Edge Pay-per-view, it was not seen on television, as a pre-taped interview was being shown at the time. I'll never forget that night and tribute show the following night on Raw, Owen was one of the most underated superstars in the business both in the ring and on the mic.

Memories of Madness

Here is a list of moments and events that stick out for me in the career of Randy Savage.
  • Winning the Intercontinental title from Tito Santana on February 6th 1986 at the Boston Garden.
  • His feud with Ricky Steamboat that culminated with their classic battle at Wrestlemania III.
  • His match with the Honky Tonk Man on Saturday Night's Main Event, Hulk Hogan came to his rescue as he was triple teamed by HTM & The Hart Foundation, Hogan & Savage shake hands and the Mega Powers are born.
  • Wins Tournament to become the WWF Champion at Wrestlemania IV.
  • Mega Powers defeated Ted DiBiase & Andre the Giant at SummerSlam 88.
  • Mega Powers are the sole survivors at Survivor Series 88.
  • Savage turns on Hogan on The Main Event.
  • Hogan defeats Savage at Wrestlemania V for the WWF Title.
  • Randy defeated King Hacksaw Jim Duggan for the crown and is now known as Macho King Randy Savage.
  • Ultimate Warrior defeats Randy Savage in a career ending match at Wrestlemania VII.
  • Marries Elizabeth at SummerSlam 91, at the reception Jake Roberts & Undertaker attack Savage setting up his feud with Jake.
  • Wins the WWF Title for the second from Ric Flair at Wrestlemania VIII.
  • Defeats Crush in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Wrestlemania X
  • In the fall of 1994 Vince McMahon annouces on Monday Night Raw that Savage has departed the company, he would then sign with WCW.
  • Wins the WCW World title in a the 60-man three-ring battle royal at World War III.
  • Diamond Dallas Page defeats Randy Savage in a No DQ match at Spring Stampede, Page went from mid-carder to main eventer thanks to his feud with Savage.
